F1 in Singapore

Today is the night race in Singapore. Tried to go to the qualifier yesterday, but all the affordable tickets were sold out. Caught a glimpse of the race from an adjacent building though. This is the first time I am anywhere near an F1 race.. Just listening to the sound of the engines makes your pulse race!

Took a picture of a ferrari that was put up on display at one of the malls there.. added a little motion to make it interesting…

Photowalk on Riverside

Went on a photowalk along the Riverside near Clarke Quay. Saw this young musician performing on the bridge. He was playing an instrument with three strings.. His blog name was put up there… www.3stringsmusic.blogspot.com I checked after coming home. His name is Ivan Ng and he is self learnt. Really impressive. Way to go Ivan!

And then I did get some other shots as well. Some in day light and a few in the night.

In Singapore

Am on a short official trip to Singapore for maybe four months. This is the first weekend where I am thinking of taking my camera out. Havent got a lot of the lenses around this time. My 85mm and vivek’s 16-35. Singapore in wide angle is what I think I should try. And the 85 can get the portraits that I need. I havent been blogging for a long while.. Hopefully this will keep it going..

Colors go round

It is the season of Chennai Sangamam in Chennai. For those uninformed, it is a weeklong festival of tamil culture,dance, food and other things. I was off to the beach in the weekend to catch some images of the events, but ended up going to the wrong place. Today, being Pongal here, was a good day to make another attempt, but work called! However, the visit to the beach was good for the spectacular moon that was on show in the sky. Sea and the moon.. beauty to the eyes. I am sure for those that are romantically busy in this time, it would have been the best place to be. As for me, I could capture an image that I dont have to trash. Colors on a ferris wheel, blur to the eye.

Read this interesting quote by General Shinseki about leadership. Supposedly, this was said by him just before he retired from the Army after being critical of the Bush administration’s plan to invade Iraq.

“You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment, but you cannot lead without it. And without leadership, command is a hollow experience, a vacuum often filled with mistrust and arrogance.“

Looking back at the last few shoots that I have had, there seems to me not a single image which gives a sense of satisfaction. All of the portraits, the wildlife are all good to look at I think. But nothing in the least ‘interesting’, if you know what I mean. One shot among the lot taken in Pondicherry was worth looking at a second time.It is like I have run out of ideas …

Faulty falls
